Johndell Belton Erik McCollum EN1320 13 January 2014 I have a Dream Speech The speech that I choose to do was the Martin Luther King Jr. I have a dream speech. The reason I choose this speech is because it have a powerful message behind it. This speech had change history years to come. It also gave African Americans hope that they can have rge freedom and rights that they want. I am going to tell you about the speech and the man behind the speech. Hopefully this paper would give you a better understanding about Martin Luther King Jr. and how his speech was so powerful to the black culture. Martin Luther King was born on January 15, 1929. King had attended Booker T. Washington High School. Martin skipped both the ninth and the twelfth grade. He went to college at the age of fifteen without formally graduating high school. Martin graduated in 1948 from Morehouse College with B.A. degree in sociology. He also graduated from Crozer Theological Seminary with a B. DIV. On June 18, 1953 he married Coretta Scott, and they had four kids together. Martin main influence was Jesus Christ. King believed in non-violence. The role that he had played in the bus boycott transformed him into a national figure and the best-known spokesman of the civil rights movement. King had almost died when a lady named Izola Curry stabbed him in the chest with a letter opener because she believed he was conspiring against her with communists. Martin had believed that organized, nonviolent protest against the system of southern segregation better known as the Jim Crow laws would lead to extensive media coverage of the struggle for black’s equality and voting rights.
