Marketing Latasha Edwards University of Phoenix Marketing 421 Stuart Ringer June 24, 2012 Abstract This essay will use two different sources to define marketing. Latasha will also provide a personal definition of marketing. Using the definitions, one will attempt to explain how important marketing is to organizational success. Three examples, from the business world will support ones explanation. Marketing Marketing is important. This process allows organizations to provide choices, know what the consumer want, and shift primary focus on how to satisfy the customer. In Latasha opinion, marketing is how companies makes a product appeal to the consumer and anticipate supply and demand for products so that it can be available for purchase. According to Basic Marketing: A Marketing Strategy Planning Approach “Marketing is the performance of activities that seek to accomplish an organization’s objectives by anticipating customer or client needs and directing a flow of need-satisfying goods and services from producer to customer or client” (Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2011, p. 4). Marketing and organizational success Organizations carry out the marketing concept. This concept has three parts: customer satisfaction, total company concept, and profit. This concept means that the focus is customer satisfaction or giving the customer what he or she need. Satisfying the customer does cost money. Companies have to keep this in mind. At the same time, the measurement of marketing success in an organization is profit (Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2011, p. 4). Marketing in the business world Here is an example of marketing in the business world assisting in taking a new product, making it popular, and influencing the consumer.
