Working in the maritime authority was a big challenge for me. Each one who achieves maritime studies has a dream to be a part of the maritime authority in his country, for the selection is so tough. The number of selected person is too limited. When I started working as a harbor officer in the port authority, I feel myself different from other person. I have a wonderful job and I look like special men. I have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. Working in the maritime authority is beneficial in my life for many reasons: This job facilitates my social integration. It allowed me to know a lot of people, either from the maritime industry or related to it. I have learned from the experienced people; therefore, I shared their skills. It helped me to be connected with foreign people and have more friends: seafarers, agents, forwarding agents, carriers, ship chandlers…I discovered many countries, and I visited many ports: Jeddah, Istanbul, Alger I have known different cultures that enlarge my view in life. I realized a satisfied financial situation. In this job, I have many duties and obligations; however, it allows me to have a good wage. I am related to the government sector and I have fixed vacancy and other profits. It seems to be better than the private sector. I had my own budget; thus, I helped my family many times. I can generally run my own spending. Last but not least, I served my country economically. Ports are backbone of world trade, and play a key role in inward and outward movement of goods; accordingly, I participate in the progress of my country in the economic development and in the commercial exchanges. I ensure berthing and unberthing of vessels along the quays, assist the pilot in the vessel’s movements. I helped my administration for a better management of the port. In conclusion, I am
