The Marines need to be lightweight, mobile, and fast. Along with being able to attack from the ocean, the Marines also are completely capable of taking land territory. They are trained to be able to deploy rapidly, and are often the first United States personnel on site after the US Army Special Forces. The Marines will also guard the American embassies overseas, where they must provide security and safety to the embassy. In volatile areas, being of the Marine embassy guard is a risky job.
Today there is a special branch of the military specifically designed to handle any condition and any foe without hesitation or remorse. This specialized branch is so effective and well equipped today because of who they were in the past. They were built based on some of the strongest principles, allowing them to rise against any quarry when one, willingly or not, defied them and their beloved country. The early advances of the U.S. military required a special branch to combine all of its power into a superior fighting force allowing them to fight in any country, design and revolutionize weaponry, and help to shape the New American government as it stands today. Eric martinsen March 26,2014 War Mentality Before watching these movies, a little doubt set in that between these two movies there would be a difficult time finding differences and similarities because of such a huge time gap between them. The thought process when approaching these great war flicks was the major military advancements the us government has made to the armed forces since the late 70s. To a nice surprise, a common foundation for these great stories were starting to become clear. The more the movie went into depth, the more stronger the similarities and differences presented themselves.
ANTIQUITY TO MODERN DAYS WARFARE Warfare cannot be separated from other activities in human history. Virtually all human societies have engaged in warfare in one form or another. One common explanation is to look at warfare exclusively from the perspective of technology and resources. At their most simple, these explanations argue that societies with access to the “best” weapons, or larger quantities of weapons, win wars. Beside that we can include how the technologies and other resources cannot stand alone without supreme leaderships through every phase of warfare itself.
Since its declaration of independence from Great Britain, the United States has experienced wars of many different sorts. Each war introduced a new kind of warfare. The Revolutionary War introduced for the first time in American history, the idea of naval warfare. Ships were armed with dozens guns and carried several dozens of men. The musket, armed with its bayonet as well as the cannon proved to be worthy weaponry advancements in the infantry together with various pistols.
The military of the U.S.A. need more people who are good leaders so the military can act as one big unit and be very efficient at what they do. Leadership is said to be everything and nothing. It is everything because it can be found at all levels in organizations, not just at the top. All individual behavior has leadership implications, some more than others. Because leadership is based on action, it emerges as a function of participation and interaction within the organization.
Ancient Chinese and Roman warfare were similar but also differed in the ways they were implemented, employed and strategized. Both the Chinese and Roman militaries proved themselves worthy of being the absolute best militaries of their time. They were capable of taking on any battle in any given situation and were repeatedly victorious. Their methods of war included the use of clever strategies, powerful tactics and organized formations to overcome and defeat their opponents. The book, Art of War, reveals several aspects of Chinese military warfare that differs from the Romans.
Not only do they deal with traditional calls such as assaults, robberies, or murders, but they also must encounter soldiers dealing with PTSD or other mental debilitations that come from the high stress environment of combat deployments. To deal with any situation that may arise on a military instillation, MP’s have access to many of the resources of a much larger civilian department. They maintain a specific Military Occupational Specialty for K-9 officers, giving access to K-9 units whenever required. Whenever Ordinance Disposal or Aviation is required, the Military Police Corps utilizes the separate Army branches of Ordinance and Aviation respectively (“What’s it like to be an Army MP” 1). Army Military Police Officers derive their authority directly from the federal government rather than from a civilian local municipality.
A standard way that the Emperors used their power was for military purposes. Because Rome was a large and thriving empire; a strong army was needed for equally attacking and defending against opposition. Emperors could effortlessly find new recruits for enlistment to the Roman legions. This would provide the advantage of larger numbers of soldiers in a battle. This benefit allowed tactics such as the ‘wedge’ to be executed as more soldiers could reinforce the wedge from behind, which would consequently break the enemies’ formation (Roman Empire.net 2012).
The technology used has advanced with time and as time has passed, this technology became the central nerve system of the military. Today our military has access to many ways to observe the enemy. From unmanned drones that fly reconnaissance missions to satellite imagery and infrared sensors to detect enemy presence, modern technology permits battles to be plotted by Global Positioning System (GPS) and tracked via computer in ways that earlier military could not imagine. Secure data and voice communication is key to the success of any military campaign. The military spends billions of pounds on electronic technology to assist in the war and it is more evident now than ever before that there is a wide range of uses for computer devices on today’s battlefield.
