Map the Supply Chain Paper Jahmekeal J. Proctor MKT/421 July 21, 2014 Mark MC Clintock Products! It all starts with the products. Businesses need a way to deliver their products to consumers. This does not happen with a truck that they have in the back of the factory or warehouse. Actual companies come together in order to give consumers what they want. It is not really delivering the product that is important it is how the product is delivered. Yes, it’s important to get to the customer, but the process needs to be smooth. Not logistics, because logistics is how one company gets their product to the consumer. Supply chains are the topic for discussion. Supply chains involve many companies that come together in order to build upon this idea of a supply chain. Successful companies depend on a successful supply chain. Which means it must be well managed. Wal-Mart is one of the leaders in managing a successful supply chain. April 29, 2014 Wal-Mart collaborated so that they could improve on food production, and recycling. Wal-Mart met with places like General Mills, Procter & Gamble, Farmers of America, and so many others just so they could bring customers a better product. The key to a successful supply chain is managing the purchasing, operations, distribution, and integration. Purchasing managers or buyers are typically responsible for determining which products their company will sell, sourcing product suppliers and vendors, and procuring products from vendors at prices and terms that meets profitability goals. ("Walmart'S Keys To Successful Supply Chain Management", 2014). Buyers ultimately make the final decision on who will become a supplier for Wal-Mart. If the product is great then a buyer will start the steps in becoming a supplier. An application must be filled out then after this starts the process to become a supplier. Suppliers for Wal-Mart
