Managing personal work priorities and professional development Assessment 2 Identify and describe three strategies you can use to manage your time One strategy that can be used to manage time is knowing how to prioritise. Creation of a to do list of what tasks need to be completed and placing them in the order of most important at the top to least important on the bottom, allows the creation of check-lists, which make larger tasks more manageable and also creates a sense of achievement as you work through the list. Another strategy is getting organised and scheduling time appropriately. Taking into consideration factors such as urgency, deadlines, contingencies and, dependent/non-dependent tasks, planning and managing scheduled times appropriately is important to managing time efficiently. It allows you to create a framework for your tasks and with proper analysis other important or non-important tasks can be identified and eliminated or incorporated into the plan accordingly. Another helpful strategy to time management is use of resources or assistance. Whether it be delegating a task to someone who is capable of completing the task, or utilising appropriate software on computers or laptops, knowing what is available or who is available can assist you in completing certain tasks more efficiently, allowing more time to be allocated to other tasks.
