Management and Leadership Onorio Dimas MGT/330 September 28, 2011 Jared Casper Management and Leadership Although many companies provide different types of services and products there is one aspect that they all have in common, and that is management and leadership. A company like Wal-Mart has been successful based on the understanding that without management or leadership they would not be able to function as a company. This paper will provide an explanation of the differences between management and leadership, along with an explanation of how their individual roles and responsibilities play in creating and maintaining a healthy organizational culture. It will also evaluate the affect of globalization and management across borders, and will conclude with 2 recommended strategies that will help in creating and maintaining a healthy organizational culture. When it comes to management and leadership they both have two different functions within an organization. Even though they are different functions one cannot work without the other, they both have to work together to ensure that the company is operating at its full potential. If a company tries to run an operation without both leadership and management, they are more likely to have more problems throughout the day to day operations. At Wal-Mart the management’s responsibilities are to come up with the plans, to organize, and to coordinate all the functions of the operations. When it comes to the leadership department their function is to motivate and to inspire the employees on the day to day operations. A leader has many roles, after management has organized a plan it is the leaders responsibility to motivate their employees to reach the goals that have been set by managers.
