“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.” 3. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” 4. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” 5.
It's hard for me to believe that He will allow man to praise Him like that much longer. I tell you there's gonna be a major showdown soon and very soon because there are too many so-called saints fully committed to tempting and destroying the souls of fully committed genuine saints. There should always be a separation of God and the devil and it should never be hard to figure out which is which. The way things are going I believe we will see a "hip-hop gangsta'" Jesus on the horizon soon. Oh how "disrespectful to God" that will be.
A “Sophoclean hero” is a headstrong character that is willing to face the worse to attain his goal. This particular hero is always in need for peace even if it means breaking the laws and relies on principles. Antigone fought all the way for the pride and respect of her brother. She proved that she was capable of anything, even death. Creon is not a heroic character despite his excess on many aspects.
AP English Language October 13 2014 RAGO CH 12-19 "...Fear the time when the strikes stop while the great owners live: for every little beaten strike is proof that the step is being taken ... fear the time when Manself will not suffer and die for a concept, for this one quality is the foundation of Manself, and this one quality is man, distinctive in the universe" (Steinbeck 205). Devices: repetition Steinbeck uses the repetition of the phrases “fear the time”, and “this one quality”, to prove that even in harsh times, man always has the ability to revolt and devote his life efforts to justice. The repetition of “fear the times”, scares the reader into action, for he wants the ability to make things right and provide fair and justifiable
Turtle reminds all the beings in the world that God on a level that is so deep that they cannot comprehend connects them. When humans come into existence and begin to cause destruction, the entire earth reasons with the people and shows them how God is everywhere and is everything. If it weren’t for Old Turtle who first reasoned with the earth before humans, the earth wouldn't have reasoned with the humans. This would have lead to the humans destroying the world. The only way to survive and achieve peace is to love and treat all with appreciation and respect.
Mistress says that when all things go wrong to us, we must believe that God is doing the very best.” The truth in the bible is enough to set anyone free and can’t fit in all contexts of slavery. You are supposed to honor your master, but when negativity creeps in where discipline should take place, darkness prevails. Vicious whipping in front of others for humiliation is inhumane. Giving our most skilled worker the lowest of jobs out of smite isn’t right as well. Freedom from this nightmare was the only option.
It is a just demand . If until now, I have seemed your enemy, it was because I feared you would be braver than I, for when I fought my lion my knees trembled and my heart was white, until that charge was made.” (369). This comment was vigorously instructed, so he knew he felt highly of him. Medoto routinely played on his fears of losing respect from others. He knew if Temas didn’t learn this, he would forever doubt himself.
Gandhi preached that Perfect love casts out fear... it is a lifelong challenge, a lifelong battle within oneself, full of challenges and trials so severe that those who tread the path of love in every religious tradition have called it sharper than a razor's edge. Everything he did was an experiment in expanding the human being's capacity to love. I’ve come across one of his most powerful quotes quite often recently, be the change you want to see in the
When Beowulf is discussing his battle with Breca and says "Often, for undaunted courage, / fate spares the man it has not already marked" (572-573). Even though Beowulf thinks that everything is decided by fate, he still feels as though he has input in it when it has not already been decided. Before Beowulf fights Grendel he declares "And may the Divine Lord / in His wisdom grant the glory of victory / to whichever side He sees fit" (685-687). Beowulf is going into this fight completely fearless, because he does not know who will win and can not change the course, so he goes into the fight accepting his possible death. Everyone in this epic has the state of mind that if they die, they die, if they live, great.
Everyone believes they can make a difference. They have an ideological mindset that they will achieve everything they dream of. Then somewhere within the steps to achieving their dreams something goes wrong. “The best-laid plans of mice and men go oft astray”- Robert Burns. This quote reveals the harsh reality of life, that dreams may not come true if limits are not considered.
