The legacy left to Malacca   500 years ago had given a big impact to Malacca in terms of cultural diversity.   There is a mix of European and Asian parentage in Malacca. Four   days celebration to commerate 500th anniversary of the Portuguese conquest of Malacca. Event themed “Our root” , ” Our Heritage “ and “Our Home” organized by the Malacca Portuguese –Eurasian Association (MPEA) October 26th to October 29. Traditional food fairs, live music bands performance, cultural performing arts and presentations. Also the traditional games, beauty contest, football tournament, cottage industries promotion and a handicraft exhibition. Existence of Portuguese big significant where it brought   about a new kaleidoscope , turning Malaysia into a colorful multi-cultural paradise. Malacca Prospered as a nautical haven since alfonso D’Albuquerqe arrived from Goa in August 25th 1511.

Data showed the impact of the 500 years until today the legacy of the Portuguese in Malacca. The cause of this event and celebration organized by the association will make the nation understand the importance to remember the historical events happen in Malacca. Besides, the young generation will aware of the past events on how Portuguese landed in Malacca for the first time. Also it could create the right picture of the years whereby Portuguese attempting to colonize Malacca in 1511.   People will know the right and accurate stories to appreciate the significance of the colonization.

Traditional games also been organized by the MPEA is in order to create the interest of traditional games such as top spinning which is famous in Malacca. At the same time celebration makes the locals group to foster the benefits of remembering the colonization.   According to the writer the theme of the event “Our Root”, “Our Heritage”, and “Our Home” shows the pride of the local ancestors   who fought in the war.
