The Danish corporation is the cornerstone of A. P. Moller group, a business group specialized in providing transportation services and supply services for over a century. However, to identify the reasons of success and continuity of Maersk, a close analysis must be done of the company’s interaction with their customers and how they make new ones, or more specifically, their Order Management System. The Order Management System or the OMS is the information system through which the bookings are received and the customers are contacted from the moment of booking till the moment of delivery. Maersk OMS Maersk is the first shipping line to automate their entire booking process, making it possible online, within 5 steps. 1) Booking a container The shipper would fill a form available online called “Booking Note” which includes information regarding: 1. The shipper 2. The consignee 3. The parties to be notified of cargo delivery 4. The name of the vessel 5. The port of loading 6. The place of delivery 7.
