Modelling paragraphs-MACBETH essay Firstly, Macbeth makes the dramatic & life-changing decision to kill his King, his kinsmen & his gracious host when he stabs King Duncan while asleep in his castle.* The actual decision is clearly motivated by “vaultless ambition” & there are indications that Macbeth was desirous of this position long before he wrote/spoke to Lady Macbeth.This can be seen in the comments he makes when Duncan announces his son Malcom to be his successor:”Stars hide your fires,Let not light see my black & deep desires.”(1 4 55-59) However, Lady Macbeth, his “fiend like queen” in the early part of the play vigorously supports this idea “look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under’t”(Act 1 scene 5 ) and actually bullies him into the act when he shows signs of wavering:”We will proceed no further in this business” Combined with this pressure, is the lure of the witches prophesy * Macbeth seems both thrilled and tantalised by the prospect of being King & clearly makes the decision to go ahead with the terrible deed:”The bell invites me, hear it not Duncan; for it is a knell, that summons thee to heaven or to hell”. Despite serious reservations and an understanding of the enormity of the task he still goes ahead with the deed.He says himself:As his host, I should against his murderer shut the door the door, not bear the knife myself.”Later on he clearly shows regret for his deed,”To know thy deed, ‘twere best not know myself.”( Act 2 scene 2 line 92)And yet befort too much time passes the reluctant murderer has killed again this time Duncan’s guards in order to present them as suspect. Secondly,Macbeth “with a mind full of scorpions” begins to suspect his friend Banquo of knowing his involvement in Duncan’s death.As Banquo himself states “King, Cawdor,All, & I fear thou play’dst most foully for it.”He says to Lady Macbeth:”Our
