Act one Scene one The play begins with three witches arranging to meet Macbeth on a heath once the “hurly burley” (battle) is done. One witch says that it shall be on the same day. Act one Scene two The King judges the Thane of Cawdor and finds him guilty of treason for siding with the Norwegians. He is stripped of his title just as news reaches King Duncan of Macbeth’s greatness. The title now goes to the worthy Macbeth for his glorious battle. Act one Scene three On the heath Macbeth and Banquo meet the three witches as they said. They proclaim Macbeth will be Thane of Cawdor and eventually King. Macbeth soon learns of his new title, fulfilling the first part of the foretelling. Act one Scene four Macbeth sends word to his wife. King Duncan plans to stay the night at Macbeth's home. Malcolm is made Prince, Macbeth ponders over killing him. Act one Scene five Lady Macbeth makes her plans to kill the King and vows to whatever it takes. She prays to the forces of evil to give her strength. Act one Scene six Lady Macbeth welcomes the King and his Thanes to the castle. Act one-Scene seven Macbeth waivers over killing the King. However, his wife talks him into it. Macbeth continues with the plan. Act two Scene one Banquo cannot sleep and neither can Macbeth. Macbeth lies about not thinking about the witches foretelling. Macbeth sees the hallucination of the bloody dagger. The bell rings Macbeth prosodies. Act two Scene two Lady Macbeth has drugged the guards. Macbeth hears a voice telling him he shall sleep no more. Lady Macbeth frames the guards. Macbeth regrets killing the king. Act two Scene three Macduff and Lady Lennox are knocking at the gate. Macbeth leads the Thanes and Lords to the chamber of Duncan.
