DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY M4 OR M4A1 CARBINE’S WEEKLY MAINTENANCE IBCT-BF-CDR 102 20NOVEMBER2013 1. PURPOSE: This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) informs Soldiers how to clear, disassemble, clean, inspect of serviceability, lubricate, and reassemble the carbine 2. APPLICABILITY: All Soldiers assigned to 3rd Platoon, Bravo Company, 1-293rd Infantry 3. REFERENCES: (a) Lubricate Order (LO) (b) STP 21-1-SMCT (c) TM 9-1005-319-10 (d) DA Form 2404 3. RESPONSIBILITIES: a. Each Soldier must be able to perform. (1) Clear Carbine (2) Disassemble Carbine (3) Clean Carbine (4) Inspection of Serviceability (5) Lubricate Carbine (6) Reassemble Carbine b. First Line Leader’s responsibility. (1) Ensuring Soldiers has the proper training, and knowledge to perform weekly maintenance on carbines. 4. PROCEDURES: a. Clear Weapons (1) Weapons will be cleared during weapon draw, weapon turn in, and disassembling of weapon using STP 21-1 SMCT as a reference. (2) Using the buddy system and weapon clearing barrels if available ensure each soldiers weapon is clear of ammunition. b. Disassembling Weapon (1) Using STP 21-1-SMCT or TM 9-1005-319-10 for guidance, disassembling weapon (2) Ensure all weapon components are organized so no parts are missing. c. Clean Weapon (1) .Use a supply issued 5.56 cleaning kit and STP 21-1-SMCT or TM 9-1005-319-10 for reference. (2) Clean each part of dirt, carbon, and grime. d. Inspect of Serviceability (1) Inspect your weapon for discrepancies using and STP 21-1-SMCT or TM 9-19-10. (2) Inspect for missing parts, cracks, and
