Communication is very important in the public services, for example in the police you need to be able to speak to the public without seeming like you are talking down to them another example is in the ambulance service you need to have a soothing and reassuring voice so that people that you are trying to save don't panic and do themself more harm than they are all ready in the way i used communication in the tasks was i used clear and to the point speech like in the ambulance one "it's okay stay calm and we will have you out of here as soon as we can" other ways the eye used interpersonal communication is reading there are three types of reading skimming where people pick out the major bits of a text and to get the gist which the police usually do on inter unit messages and other writing that needs to be read quickly, scanning where people looking for taking a piece of information this is done when the police are doing research into a criminals background and the final one is intensive reading this is where every word is read to the letter this is usually used by the police on police reports when they are finished solving a case or arresting someone. I used this when we did police reports and I had to swap with another member of the group and see what they had written, I used intensive reading because it needed reading in full. Barriers to effective reading are things like slang words such as innit and ye Brav, and sloppy handwriting because some people cannot read when people have scrawly or sloppy handwriting. a third way of using interpersonal communication is writing there are two types of letters that are sent to people formal and informal. Informal letters use a lot of slang and are usually sent to friends but formal letters are usually sent to family or work colleagues away I used this was when we had to write a letter to a friend telling them about a certain
