Assignment 2: Competition, Marketing Mix, and Pricing Aretha Allen Professor Renita Ellis HSA300 December 2, 2012 In the metro area, there are many healthcare systems that can be considered competition for the Tanner Health System. So they must remain competitive offering a mixture of services and pricing that will keep customers coming to their many specialties. The importance of marketing for hospitals is growing consistently, especially if they plan to strengthen their position in an ever increasing competitive healthcare market field. The Tanner Health Care System is an organization which operates for the community on a non-profit basis. A community that has a growing need not for those with a common financial interest in the organization. As the need to improve and expand the care that the facility provided and the many communities in the area to service was apparent, the Tanner group decided it was time to expand the facility and bring state of the art technologies and care to the customers. Tanner also operates Tanner Medical Group, one of metro Atlanta’s largest physician group practices as rated by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Tanner Medical Group is comprised of approximately 25 medical practices with 35 locations in Carroll, Douglas, Haralson, Heard and Paulding counties in Georgia and Cleburne County in Alabama. Tanner Medical Group physicians offer a wide range of medical specialties, including interventional and non-interventional cardiology, family medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, infectious diseases, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry, pulmonary and critical care medicine, surgical breast care and vascular surgery.
