1. Lung Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells that start off in one or both lungs; usually in the cells that line the air passages. The abnormal cells do not develop into healthy lung tissue, they divide rapidly and form tumors. 2. In 2010 Lung cancer was Australias 5th most common cancer. Also in 2010 10,296 cases were reported by Australians 6,251 of these men and the remaining 4,045 women. 3. Lung Cancer is most commonly caused by smoking cigarettes or even passive smoking. Some other causes of this can be exposure to radon gas, air pollution, previous lung disease, family history in lung cancer and lowered immunity. 4. If you have small cell lung cancer the treatment is most likely to be chemotherapy. It is only suitable to have surgery if the cancer will spread throughout the body to your chest or lymph glands. Non small cell lung cancer is treated with surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or a combination of them all. If you do have advanced cell lung cancer you may also be treated with biological therapy. 5. Ventilation or breathing is the process that moves air in and out your lungs. The human body breathes in the air which has a combination of oxygen and carbon dioxide. The air moves into the lungs. The body distributes the oxygen to wherever needed and the lungs then exhales the carbon dioxide. 6. Lung Cancer has many effects such as shortness of breath, new or changed cough, hoarse voice and coughing up blood. These are all symptoms of Lung Cancer that are relevant with the Respiratory
