Concert Critique of Luke Bryan: Dirt Road Dairies On October 24th, 2014, I attended the concert of country artist Luke Bryan at the 1-800 ASK GARY Amphitheater in Tampa, Florida. The title of the concert was “Dirt Road Dairies” where he sang a majority of his new songs off his fourth album “Crash My Party”. Luke Bryan is a solo artist, but does travel with other artists when he performs live. I enjoy listening and attending Luke Bryan’s concerts because I feel like I can relate to him. He sings about everything from love to hunting, but this most common theme among is music is about partying and having a good time. Luke Bryan has been on the music scene since 2004 and has brought us hits like “All My Friends Say” and “Country Girl (Shake It for Me)”. Luke Bryan is classified as “country pop” and is in the category of “new country”. New Country is high produced and pop-oriented style of country music which is played on mainstream country radio channels. Luke Bryan uses the popular “auto tune” in a few of his songs and it gives the song a little hip-hop feel, which is unlike the traditional way of country music. He gives his own spin on each song that he sings. Luke Bryan does a great job of setting the scene for each one of the songs he sings. If the song is about hunting, you can almost feel the woodsy twang of the brush around you Luke Bryan is primarily a country artist who travels with a large band. There is a drummer, a bass player, and several guitarists. One song that stuck out to me was “That’s My Kind Of Night” because I think if someone did not know who Luke Bryan was, that by hearing this song, they would think he was more of a hip hop artists. The song opens with a very heavy drum beat that sets the tempo for the entire song.
