The system is an evolution/upgrade to the GSM/EDGE (3G) and UMTS/HSPA (3.9G) network technologies. The standard is established by the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) and is detailed in its Release 8 document (Wikipedia, 2013). The purpose of this research paper is to prove that LTE (Long Term Evolution) and LTE-A (Long Term Evolution - Advanced), 3.9G and 4G respectively, are disruptive technologies. Using information collected on previous generations of cellular technologies, this paper attempts to provide a forecast of LTE technologies. The first section of this paper focuses on explaining LTE and LTE-A technology, showing how mobile technology has changed from generation to generation. The disruptive effects of LTE are grouped into four categories namely, social, business, global economy and security effects. Keywords: Disruptive, LTE, LTE-A, 4G LTE and LTE-A LTE (Long Term Evolution) and LTE-A (Long Term Evolution Advanced), represent two steps for the current cellular technologies to get to the next generation of
