There are so many to choose from Atkins, the Zone, Low fat, Weight Watchers etc. But, the ultimate goal is to lose weight and keep it off for good. There has been much debate over the past 10 years of which is better, low carbohydrate and low calorie. They have many commonalities and many differences between the two.
In addition, this documentary also illustrates the fast food industry’s corporate influence, the spread of obesity throughout the United States, and the lawsuit against McDonalds, on behalf of two women allegedly obese as a result of eating McDonald’s food. This movie presented many alarming facts. Obesity is a major health problem in the United States. More than sixty percent of adults are either overweight or obese. It has been said that obesity will even surpass smoking as the leading cause of preventable death in America.
Obesity is known to be the plague of the 21st century in the United States of America. It affects all age groups from childhood to adulthood. Due to the obesity epidemic in the country, there are countless programs, pills, and diet plans that are marketed every day to the American public advertising weight loss. Although these ads are persuasive, they are not a healthy way to shed the pounds desired. The most effective and sufficient, the most beneficial way to lose excess pounds is to maintain a balanced diet and exercise regularly.

Due to increased advertising and the Americans' fast-paced lifestyle, fast food restaurants have raised exponentially, becoming multi-millionaire industries and harming the health of their consumers. A regular meal at McDonald's consists of a Big Mac, large fries, and a large Coca-Cola drink, all this combined goes up to 1,430 calories. A diet of approximately 2,000 calories is considered a healthy amount of calories for an entire day. This may vary depending on several factors such as age, weight, height, physical activity and gender.
Quick is the appropriate word to use for fad diet, who wants to change their entire lifestyle when they can lose over ten pounds in one week? We become so obsess with losing weight we begin to destroy our bodies by self- starvation. Weight loss in the content of medicine, healthy eating, and physical fitness results in one common thing a new lifestyle whether you use a fad diet or a nutritional diet. Although we look at fad diets as our golden tickets to our “Beyoncé” bodies there are some disadvantages to doing a crash diet. These disadvantages can range from statistics, results, and meal plans.
After a few week using food from giant McDonald's three times a day Spurlock feels bad and is getting weigh very quickly. What is surprising in this experiment is that fact that he is gain weight faster and feels worse than itself could have predicted, his team of doctors who are supervise his health have to stop him from this experiment after they observe the abnormality in his liver and other organs. This experiment in the field of dietetics raises an important question: is really like eating fast food foods cause dramatic multiplication of the number of people suffering from obesity? What actually make the food like fast food to be so unhealthy for us? There are other factors involved?

As Richard Carmona states in “The Obesity Crisis In America,” “Nearly two out of every three Americans are overweight or obese”(1). Why are Americans so overweight? I believe the three main causes of obesity in America are; the lack of motivation to exercise, the convenience of fast food, and America’s perspective that everyone is fine just the way they are. One of the primary causes of obesity is simple; lack of exercise. If we don’t even bother to workout, do we expect to magically lose weight and stay healthy?
Gyms intimidate you. You think sweating is gross, and you’ve never had an athletic day in your life. Or maybe you’re someone who exercises sporadically and the results have come at a snail’s pace, if at all. For the past 10 years of my life, I also was an obese and the primary reasons were eating cheap fast food and high stress level at work. In 2012, I went to the doctor for a normal checkup and I was told that my blood pressure was at all time high and if I don’t lose weight I will be prone to a heart attack by age 30.
