Louis van Gaal Is a Dutch football manager currently in charge of the German club Bayern Munich As a youngster, Louis van Gaal started playing for an amateur club in Amsterdam. At the age of 20, he joined the second team of Ajax, but was never chosen to play in the first team, which at the time boasted players such as Johan Cruijff and Johan Neeskens in the midfield positions. After signing for Royal Antwerp, Telstar and Sparta Rotterdam, he joined AZ, where he also became assistant coach in 1986. After a short career at AZ, he returned to Ajax to become Leo Beenhakker's assistant. When Beenhakker left in 1991, Van Gaal took over as manager. As a trainer he was much more successful as his player career. He was Ajax manager from 1991 until 1997 and had a very successful tenure. The peak of his career with Ajax was winning the Champions League in 1995. In 1997 he moved to Barcelona, the Dutch national team, AZ and now he’s the manager of Bayern Munchen. Honours As you can see, Van Gaal won many prices with his team. Like i said was his biggest award the winning of the Champions Leauge. With AZ he was also very succesfull to win the Dutch Championsship with a small club like AZ. He built the team with young players and they played attractive football. In Bayern Munchen he was last year very succesfull to win the Bundesliga and the German Cup. He also played the Champions League final. This year he is less successful. And his contract will not being extended. Now there are many speculations about his future, there are stories that he will be the bondscoach of Germany or that he will following up Sir Alex Fergusson at Manchester United.
