That parents stress to children the importance of education all their school lives, but they continue to give money things that are less important, instead they should put money towards the teachers who wants to help make a difference in every child's life. Barber believes that parents should actually display their actions that they care and value their education. He explains who are to blame for the lack of quality education in America. The generations before the young and the government have a partial blame in why the school system is failing. Barber's argument is more superior, because he takes the sociopolitical context of education in to account, where as Henry does not.

Students will start to think, “I thought we were in an English class?” The reason why the instructor spoke in a different language may be that he/she has students from Mexico, the most common language spoken around here is Spanish, or perhaps Spanish is the first language he/she learned. University campuses nationwide always branch out to outsource the professors, but is that a good idea? Should they bring people from other countries to teach in schools and colleges/universities? Professors in a University should not be forced to learn two languages because the professor might have a difficult time understanding a second language and it provides a lack of expert professors. On the opposing side, Professors that work at a University have bilingual students and this presents the opportunity for him to not only learn a new language just for his foreign students but also will benefit the professor as well because he learned a new tongue that will open up other better opportunities for himself.
In earlier generations, Asian immigrants felt that they were second-class citizens with lower incomes and lower job prestige, compared with white people. After studying relative success of white people, Asian Americans were aware that their humble educational backgrounds caused their low social status. Therefore, for preventing the next generation from repeating the same fate, Asian American parents already start addressing to their children about the idea that "school success is gaining entrance into the best colleges" when their children are still little (Tureba 134). Mr. Fridman is correct that America does need its nerds. Intellectual humans began this country and they still run it today. America is not run by a bunch of New York Yankees or Pittsburg Steelers, but its run by Yale or Harvard graduates. The men and women that do more for this country than anything are college graduates who took their studies and education far past the point of any expectations. Some people are just not blessed with athleticism, but those who are blessed with the desire and will to learn and create are the ones of really make a difference in our society.

In the article, “Why Johnny Can't Fail”, Jerry Jesness admits he has played a part in the “floating standard”, but he does not agree with it. The floating standard lets students proceed to the next grade level even if they are not fully prepared. Jesness claims the floating standard is easier to give into rather than to set high standards that some students may not meet because having it in place not only keeps students happy, but also keeps the parents content. When Jesness first began teaching he failed students, but learned that giving students the grades they deserved was not the norm. He soon “fell into line” after the principal of the school called a meeting with him and the parents of the students he was failing.
Education: The process in which an individual gains pointless knowledge for the opportunity to get wealthy. America's education system is awful at properly educating their students. The type of education that is taught in high school is only to prepare you for what you're actually going to learn in college. A lot of the courses being offered at high schools are impractical in our daily lives, such as trigonometry, Hawaiian history and British literature. These courses are useless unless you're going to major in one of those subjects, but most of us aren't.
