As I read the entries from my reflective journal, I could see how my focus shifted from assisting patient with his basic needs at the beginning of the nursing school to more comprehensive nursing care today. My years of experience in education and later in quality control, influenced values that have translated well into the nursing field. First and foremost are work and client safety. The quality of service, attention to detail, and
Through the formulation of three goals, I looked forward to achieve the desired competencies, among the several: “ Define professional and essential responsibilities of the charge nurse to ensure prompt, safe and effective care of the surgical patient in a open-heart surgery setting”. Several variables were to be considered due to the nature of the operating room, such as cancelled cases, add-on cases, emergencies, and crisis situations. Time was the main issue. It was a perpetual dilemma in conflict with the planned organizational and technical aspects of the mentorship session. My mentor and I had to employ several times, the alternative options with appropriate solutions in order to accomplish the desired tasks. This experience, as a whole, has not only enriched my skills as perioperative nurse and deepen the perception of discipline and organizational management, but it has also made me more self-empowered and confident to provide safe, quality nursing care while engage in leadership duties.

I look forward to the countless opportunities to become intellectually engaged in an attempt to understand and solve complex problems as they relate to leadership and K-12 education. Drawing from the doctoral dispositions (Grand Canyon University, 2011b), I am here to reflective on my practice by asking questions of myself and others. I will learn to self-reflect and continuously search for new meaning, new truth, or new knowledge in order to grow and develop as a practitioner-scholar. Doctoral Motives of Study Leonard, Becker and Coate (2005) maintained the most powerful reason for individuals to obtain a doctorate degree as personal ambition. Findings identified personal ambition as a more powerful force than both career advancement and personal growth combined (Leonard et al., 2005).
Research Paper- CHE125 Allison Leigeb The medical field is one of the most important aspects of our society today. It’s a fact that there will always be a need for medical attention and healthcare, no matter the state of the economy or the size of a population. The two careers I decided to research are both in the medical field, and both are stable jobs that have an ultimate goal of helping people heal. They are an orthopedic surgeon and a physician’s assistant. I have personal experience with learning about these two jobs- I shadowed numerous orthopedic sports medicine surgeons and physician’s assistants during my senior year of high school as part as an academic internship.
I came to this school from Community College of Philadelphia already knowing that I wanted to major in Behavioral and Health Services; I had taken numerous Behavioral Health courses and though I knew exactly what I was headed for-was I ever wrong. Going through the Behavioral Health program has taught me so much more than stuff about healthcare and helping people, it has taught me how to set goals and objectives. I have learned how to communicate more effectively, view information from a global perspective, how to conduct proper research and analyze information. Most importantly I’ve learned that achieving my goals takes a lot of commitment and hard work, for instance, I had to make sacrifices such as cutting my work hours from fulltime to part-time and learn to put education high on my priority
It was a lengthy process of searching online and talking to multiple university advisors to locate which universities were rated top ten. I needed a university that would fit my current job schedule, and allow the flexibility to achieve my ultimate goal. However after researching multiple universities, reading their vision and mission statements. Walden’s vision and mission statements stuck in my head. The School of Nursing (SON) vision and mission statements have left a lasting impression of where I want to be advancing my nursing career.
The symposium provided me with the fundamental knowledge of the issues that the health care industry faced today. During the past year and six months I strived to learn more about public health both through coursework and work in the field. Since practical experience is an essential learning tool, I went on to expand my experience in the field of public health. I was fortunate to have landed a job as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Borgess Medical Center, the position allowed me to view public health at a different level. Working as a Clinical Research Coordinator I was responsible for overseeing and coordinating the initiation, implementation, and development of clinical research protocols to meet requirements and objectives of Borgess Research Institute, Food and Drug administration (FDA) Regulations and ICH Guidelines, sponsor Guidelines, Institutional Review Board and Investigator and patient needs.
So for me to get a college education and be able to get my degree will open all kinds of doors for me. * Once I have fulfilled my obligation and completed my required time, I will have received a college degree. I also feel that there is not only medical help that patients ask for from nurses but attention, care and sympathy which I feel that I could distribute. I also have a genuine concern for the sick and the wounded. Taken together, these several factors clenched my decision to pursue nursing. I have chosen to pursue baccalaureate preparation in nursing for one it is a stepping stone to receiving a master’s degree in nursing which I am very interested in obtaining. Also having the baccalaureate degree in nursing gives me more opportunities in the competitive career world.
