Living Your Cultural Identity Cultural Identity is formed through countless aspects of our everyday life. Place of birth, gender, race, history, nationality, language, ethnicity, stereotypes and aesthetics are all aspects of our lives that define us as a person. With so many different types of people and cultures in our world, someone can be defined by the color of his or her skin or the sound of their voice. Even if a person comes from one side of the world but lives on the other, they can be defined by their cultural identity and differences. Cultural identity is defined by what a person gains from being a part of a specific society, assumptions that are made by people outside of ones own culture and the sense of ones own culture and what define how you view the world. Everyone who is born and raised on this earth has a cultural identity. With so many people populating our earth, there are hundreds of different identities that exist now, or have existed in the past. Your cultural identity and status in society are defined by many things, including family, religion, food, technology you use, occupation, clothes,, and customs. These aspects of life define people of different cultures as a person. These traits impact ones life, define who they are and make them different from any other person in society. Culture forms and bends thoughts of right and wrong and what is accepted and what is not approved of. These identity differences among different cultures is what makes our world so unique, but difficult to control. With so many different influences and ideas directing our paths in life, one must wonder if what they have been taught in their culture is right or wrong.
