Far too many are dumped along desolate roads where the owner cannot be seen throwing their dog or cat away like trash to fend for themselves. What many people do not know is that once a dog or cat is a “domesticated” animal they usually cannot survive out in the wild on their own, they need their human companion for food and shelter. Many people also do not believe in getting their pet fixed (spayed, neutered). They believe that it harms them in some way, but this is not true. Supply and demand also plays a role in the overpopulation problem looming the United States.
This would help limit the problem to where it is only within the country, therefore lowering the amount of work that would have to be done in order to track down the puppy mills and begin to work towards eliminating the problem. While there are many that disagree with puppy mills, there are those that don’t find them all that bad because not all commercial breeding fit the harsh criteria of puppy mills. Although there are many inhumane puppy mills, there are also some that are humane, taking care of the puppies, giving them proper nutrition, exercise, and care. This may be true; however the likelihood of these kinds of puppy mills is rare and not prominent enough to consider puppy mills
Roaming cats are susceptible to attack by other animals, to trapping by angry neighbours, and most of all, to traffic accidents. Despite leash laws in most communities, mauled cats often turn up in veterinarians’ offices and city pounds. A cat raised with dogs may not recognize a dangerous dog quickly enough. Also, coyotes are a concern in most parts of Canada, including suburban areas, as most domestic cats have lost the degree of wariness they need to protect themselves against wild predators. A cat is also unequipped to protect itself against traps set out by angry neighbours.
Unfortunately, not enough people do their research before getting a new pet. This is why shelters are full of animals and why so many animals are euthanized each day. Hopefully, this will help you not make that same mistake. After reading this information you will see that size really does matter when choosing your new best friend. There are many similarities that you need to know about before choosing to get a dog of any size.
Not just of the breeding dogs in the farm but most of their puppies as well. As cute as the puppy in the pet shop may seem you should always buy from a proper breeder or an animal shelter this way you will know that you are not contributing towards puppy mills and killing innocent dogs. This is one dog that was lucky enough to be saved from a puppy mill. If the dogs are not rescued and given another home from the animal shelter they will be put down and the owner of the puppy mills get away with murder. Not just of the breeding dogs in the farm but most of their puppies as well.
The opposite of this urge would be to not have any pets at all. One could desensitize themselves to the joy and love an animal could bring and not want to own one at all. This also compounds the Humane Society of Southern Arizona’s problem because that is one less potential home for a homeless pet. The Humane Society of Southern Arizona has taken a stance in the middle ground. It advocates responsible pet ownership.
I found it hard for myself to have sympathy for the main characters because they were dependant, selfish and did not stand up for themselves. Gabriella was unstable and does not address her problems about Liam not staying in town to live with her and let Liam have control of their relationship. I did feel bad that Liam got attacked by the bear, but it was his own fault and he lied to everyone saying that he ran from the bear to protect Gabriella, but in reality he just ran because he was scared and panicked. I think both main characters are to blame for the accident because if Gabriella hadn’t have run away from her problems and told Liam what was bothering her, and handling it as a mature adult, they would never have been in that part of the
Gregory was at a game twenty miles away, Patricia was serving detention, Mrs. Callahan was in a school meeting and Mr. Callahan was at home worried about everyone. Mr. Callahan got terribly worried about his family when the dog and cats started acting strangely so he went to look for them. While on his way out, a big tree fell in the Callahan’s house, Santa Paw and his cat friend Abigail got out. Everywhere was dark and they were no electricity in the town. They went looking for there family but on there way to look for them, Santa Paw had to rescue a lot of injured people on
Dogs are often kept in cages, which may be stacked from floor to ceiling with multiple animals living in each one. The cages in which these dogs are kept generally have wire flooring, which allows the dog's waste to slick through the a collection tray underneath. This allows the operators of the puppy mills to save time by never walking the dogs or giving them the necessary space to naturally eliminate. In addition to being employed for deplorable purposes, these cages can also injure the dogs' legs and paws, and the conditions that they promote lead to disease. Mill dogs may live exclusively outside, where they are exposed to environmental conditions which harm them, or conversely live entirely indoors in cages.
Candy is lonely because of his age, he lost his dog, and his physical disability. Candy’s age is one of the reasons that affect his loneliness, “I ain’t got the poop no more” (20). He said this when the others go to town on Saturday night because he is too old to go out with them, and he thinks he would not fit in. Secondly, after Candy lost his dog he was lonelier, “Candy lay still, staring at the ceiling” (49). When Carlson asked to take Candy’s dog to kill it, Candy would not answer and just lay still and stare at the ceiling because he was sad that he would lose his only friend.
