A Life Worth Living For by Rhea Jean L. Talha I woke up one morning and found myself among people whom I didn’t recognize. I accosted one person there but it seemed that she didn’t notice my presence. In other words, I became invisible to them. That was really surprising to me, yet I remained in their place and kept reticent. I lived with them and knew all their ways in life. The parents were busy working and the children were left with their “yayas”. All their money spent form work was spent merely for their physical needs and luxuries. They had so much and they wasted a lot. They had so much and still worked a lot. Their whole lives were spent in satisfying the senses of the body and the demands of the mind. Time came the children grew into adolescence taking dope, bringing boys or girls in their room and engaged in premarital sex. Seeking for sensual pleasure in this way was where they find their happiness. But, the happiness experience from sensual pleasure is very transient. One day, in their life, the son was arrested from taking the prohibited drugs and raping his classmate and the daughter committed suicide due to so much disappointed. She was feeling very empty inside in the midst of material luxuries. From that then, I concluded that what taste sweet in the beginning taste bitter in the end. And, realized that the kind of life that is centred around the pursue of sensual pleasures is not worth living for. I suddenly returned to my real life and find my family and friends when I woke up again one morning. My friends live a different kind of life. They were living a happy and fulfilled life. This was because their life is centered on glorifying and doing only the things that pleases God. They work and perform their responsibilities, but their activities are offered to the Supreme Lord. Their lives are perfect as they are acting with real knowledge of
