The author of this quote speaks of the importance of imagination and the impact that, in turn it has on the surrounding world. As a person becomes more imaginative and creative in their lives, it also has great impact on their spirit and personality. Do not merely summarize the plot. Edward Said wrote “Exile is strangely compelling to think about but terrible to experience.” He proposes that exile can be “a potent, even enriching experience” as well as “unhealable rift”. While the common person would say that these two statements could not possibly relate, Said is right in his assumption. In Yann Martel’s Life of Pi, Pi is fortuitously cast away at sea when a ship inhabiting his family and there many zoo animals is wrecked in the middle of the ocean, he was so lucky to survive unlike his fellow passengers. The Open Boat As humans we try find our place in life, our purpose, the reason for our existence. We try to use religion as a driver to guide us through our time on earth, but it makes us wonder what are we doing here or if we really matter. Would anything change if we were suddenly gone? Maybe to our loved ones and the ones close to us, but in the grand scheme of things we are but less than a foot note. In Stephen Crane’s short story “the open boat” crane shows us that nature in itself is completely indifferent to the trials of mankind.
Dear Editor, Garrett Hardin’s essay, “Lifeboat Ethics,” although a compelling read, is an appalling example of sloppy conservatism which seeks to manipulate the reader through erroneous, contradictory, bigoted, self-important, and cruel statements. “Lifeboat Ethics” is undoubtedly one of those opinion pieces that is meant to show readers the error of their ways. He all but begs the reader to set aside his or her “kind-hearted liberal” feelings, and provides many examples to walk the reader through his own viewpoint—as any good op ed should. (p. 134). Nonetheless, the omissions and baseless presumptions present in this piece insult the intelligence enough that it is impossible to seriously consider Hardin’s point (which is stunning in its brutality).
This is because Pi not intentionally has the values of an agnostic when he is confronted with his dramatic experience of the ship sinking. He questions “Why can’t reason give greater answers? Why can we throw a question further than we can pull an answer?” (Martel, 108) which are exactly the same questions he looks down upon agnostics for

The sun is a distraction from Meursault's everyday life and he cannot handle it. Not only does Camus´ use of the sun express the lack of conformity to social norms by Mersault, but the sunlight is also the determining factor which provoked Mersault to commit a crime. "(The sun) shattered into little pieces on the sand and
