They argue the Buy Nothing Day would wake the world to take on the environmental problems that consumerism has created. This argument is flawed. and wrong. Consumerism has created new ways of recycling products and much more. Companies are forced to create safer products for the public to use, and also learn to make better with fewer resources.
We decided to go ahead and make the seventeen-mile trip back to the old abandoned mine after we all dried off. By that time it was pushing around three o’clock and we had a hard hour’s ride ahead of us. So we loaded up, and began the journey back to the mine. Everything was going great besides some tricky washouts we had to cross and a tree we had to cut that had fallen across the path, which were no match for the four-wheelers of course! Well, we finally made it back to the old mine around four-thirty.
We would play a game where we dragged two tubes behind the boat and we would try to see how many times we could successfully transfer from one to another. Unfortunately, I was not the winner of this game. Many of the time the passing water would catch me and drag my body off of the tubes. We left the lake a little sun burnt and sore but still had a great time. June 09, 2012 Today at work was
The word is out that the environment matters and needs to be cared for, and at the bottom level people are worried about it. This is beautiful and creates change because business doesn't want to lose profits and politicians don't want to lose their jobs. That is why we are going green and using solar systems and energy powered cars we have also been using reusable bags to get our
Clean energy use would be very good for the environment, it is very important to know that the planet needs a break, and it is not enough with the recycling programs that help but are not sufficient to prevent the country to continue to rely of fossil fuel, as we have done in the last 100 years. Sometimes people will not care about it because they think that by the time that the planet’s environments collapse, they will be gone for many years, it is sad but people think that
Genetic diversity will also be greatly reduced, leaving the human race susceptible to certain diseases. The scientists with all their knowledge and skills, do not know what future consequences are in store for the designer babies. In my opinion, the ramifications could be great for such a trivial purpose. Perhaps society would be better served if scientist focused more on the enormous importance of environmental influences on our health in the future. While the public may not know much about designer babies it is hugely debated within the scientific community.
Some believe that it’s not as big a concern as others while some believe we are rapidly destroying the planet. As for my personal thoughts on the issue of human overpopulation; I believe people need to be better educated on birth control and the environmental effects of overpopulation. There is a serious need to correct the air pollution and fossil fuel depletion and my hope is by doing so there will be less of a need for wars in order to gain others natural resources . We also need to find a way to fix the depleting fresh water supply because once it’s gone all living things are going to suffer
Designer Babies Designing babies is a controversial topic among many people because in some circles it is considered “unethical” or “immoral” or even that we shouldn’t “play god” and that there isn’t anything beneficial to the whole thing. But those people are wrong. Contrary to popular belief, designing babies can prevent many inherited genetic disorders, contribute to a more capable society, and promote a more “happy” society. There is no reasonable reason to not have designer babies and those conservatives are holding all of humanity back from progress and that is not nice. There are genetic disorders like cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, or hemophilia that plague the world and the people in our lives.
However, deforestation effects everyone on a global scale. The loss of species, never to be seen again, is heartbreaking enough, but the loss of entire ecosystems might not effect anyone emotionally but it will affect them physically, with rising water levels, rising temperatures, and the greenhouse effect. By causing local wildlife to relocate into more urban environments, adversely impacting climate change, and negatively contributing to global atmospheric changes, deforestation should be a huge concern, especially for Americans who are typically more educated then the rest of the world. Americans have a responsibility to nature, and should use the education afforded to them by this country to spread awareness on deforestation. As Berlau states in Our Unhealthy Future, “It’s important to do what we can to protect the inhabitants of the environment or the planet...
Many state Environmental Protection Agencies, are taking a closer look at what fracking is doing to the environment in their specific states. Though nothing is going to be perfectly safe, placing standards and following through are the first steps in any process. Companies are starting to see the devastation drilling is causing in communities. Some have taken their own steps to correct environmental issues and are working with environmentalists to keep the planet and those who inhabit it safe. Hopefully the higher standards these companies are implementing will be forced on those who just drill for the money with no respect for our health or environment.
