FATIMA AHMED CYPOP 7 1.1 Analyse the differences between creative learning and creativity. Creativity and creative learning are two different things, the differences are that creativity looks at children using means of expressing themselves such as art, music, modelling, role play and dance. It looks at enjoying what you’re doing more than being perfect at it. On the other hand creative learning is about helping children to develop skills in problem solving and imaginative thinking. 1.2 Explain current theoretical approaches to creativity and creative learning in early childhood. Current theoretical approaches include Nature and nurture, being creative is something you genetically are just good at or is it something you can be taught. Cognitive theories looks at how we process things in the brain, how children connect one item to another. For example a box to some children may represent a house and to someone else it may be a shed or dog house. Social models looks at children using the environment around them as a means of being creative. Children can be creative by watching adults around them and imitating. Other theories include, cultural approaches, creativity as a process and lateral thinking. 1.3 Critically analyse how creativity and creative learning can support young children’s emotional, social, intellectual, communication and physical development. Creative learning and creativity links in with everything, the ability to express ones feelings and also a means for self-expression. Creativity and creative learning can help children with social, intellectual and communication as children enjoy taking part in role play. Role play includes children socialising and playing in groups, they communicate with one another.
