LESSONS: THE WISDOM OF SILLY GEESE STORY We know how important quality in leadership and team work are in now day’s organization or business. As leaders, we can learn a lot from the goose. Geese are intriguing creatures and while considered pests in certain situations. Geese are also having an incredibly strong sense of family and group loyalty. As we consider these fascinating facts, we should think how we can adopt the five principles presented in “The Wisdom of Silly Geese Story” as inspiration into practice our own leadership style and teamwork skill. The First Lesson from Geese The First Fact: Geese flying in V formation add at least 71% greater flying range to the whole flock than if each bird flew on its own. This is because as each bird flaps its wing, it creates uplift for the bird immediately following it. The First Lesson: We Can Learn About The Importance Of Achieving Goal. People who work together (sense of community) and share common direction can get where they are going more quickly and easily because they are travelling on thrust of one another. In order to achieve organisation’s goal (objective, mission and vision), team leaders and team members must share and working in the same direction and always work hands in hands. Then they are will go quicker and easier to achieve their goal because thrust of one another. The Second Lesson from Geese The Second Fact: When goose falls out of formation, it will suddenly feel the drag and resistance of flying alone. Then quickly moves back into formation, taking advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it. The Second Lesson: We Can Learn About The Importance Of Teamwork. If we have as much sense as a goose we will stay information with those who are headed where we want to go (and be willing to accept their help as well as give ours to the others).
