When would these signs present? What would you do if a client was severely affected by the foodstuff and became suddenly ill? For example if the person was choking, vomiting or couldn`t swallow? Give two examples of laws/company policy regarding dealing with food What health and safety rules must be covered? Your hygiene Food storage Records of food stuffs Preventing infection Why is it important that food and drink are provided in manageable portions and at a pace that suits the client?
I would also support infection control by cleaning up any spills immediately. A Dietician will also work within the care home and will have roles and responsibilities within the structure. They will evaluate the daily food intake of the residents and then use mathematical calculations to determine the appropriate diet for that individual. They may change the diets for the residents to add more proteins or to change the amount of water they intake. After the dietician calculates a suitable diet they will make recommendations to a physician so he can write the dietary order.
The patient needs to understand his new medical condition in order to gain understanding of the disease process, signs and symptoms, complications, medication regimen, follow-up appointment as well as the benefits of physical activity, diet and weight control. By explaining what causes a myocardial infarction, sign and symptoms, complications using educational video, traced of the heart to demonstrate how it functions will help the patient. Modifying dietary choices, weight control and physical activity will promote better health. This process should be repeated until patient and family voice understanding. Patient and family involvement in plan and care is very vital.
Introduction In this section, my information pact is going to include a description of a piece of legislation, the Human Rights Act and a code of practise, the Code of Practise for Health and Social Care Workers from the General Social Care Council. The reason why I am describing these laws are because care workers have a responsibility to know the laws that are relevant to the type of work that they are involved in, which helps them to be more responsible and professional in their work. This will help to make sure that every patient is treated equally, respected and they have their own rights. Also, the law is to help carers to make sure that they are treating patients in the right way and not giving poor care. Human Rights Act * What is the Humans Rights Act?
The symptom is usually what brings the patient to seek out health care (Humphreys et al., 2008) and adherence to treatment by the patient is crucial. The nurse who provides a biopsychosocial view of the symptoms to help the patient better deal with their symptoms is imperative to this adherence. The Theory provides many target areas for research and furthers our knowledge of the development of symptom management. To provide a greater understanding
Nurses educate and assist patients to achieve their competency in caring for themselves. Orem’s theory emphasizes the patient’s self-care needs. These needs are biological, psychological, developmental, and/or social. Thus, the goal of nursing through Orem’s theory is to increase the patient’s ability to independently meet these needs. The common problems that I deal with are musculoskeletal injuries from accidents resulting in fractures, and various forms of arthritis resulting in joint replacement surgeries.
Communication is the process of sharing information using a set of common rules (Northouse & Northouse, 1998. p.2). Relevance of effective personal health care communication with other health care professionals, clients, and patients. Health care communication in intrapersonal context refers to the inner thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and our self-talk about issues that influence our health directed behaviors (Northouse & Northouse, 1998. p.4). Personal communication is vital in health care communication, starting from the first encounter with the patient throughout the care and treatment phase or hospitalization. The conversation with patients and families tells much about the way they feel.
These beliefs, values, and practices influence the health promotion and disease prevention in which they seek (Edelman & Mandle, 2010). The assessment of these practices is an essential role nurse’s play in caring for each individual and family. By using the family focused approach the nurse can determine the support and care a family can provide to the patient. The nurse can then assess the family’s potential of obtaining optimal health. The purpose of this paper is for the nurse to complete a health assessment of a family by using Gordon’s 11 functional health patterns and the system’s approach.
The nurse also has to treat the patient with dignity and aide in the healing process that is conducive to each individual. The scope of practice is a parameter set in place that defines the rolls, procedures, actions, and processes are permitted by a licensed professional. An example would be a RN administering medication to a patient or doing a care plan after patient check in and assessment. An advanced practice nurse has skills beyond the normal scope of practice of a RN. They generally have more knowledge and experience in a concentrated field of study with a complexity of skills and intervention practices.
The nursing profession has one scope of practice that covers a full range of nursing practice pertaining to general and specialty practice. It is important that you know your scope of practice as well as others who make up a part of the nursing team. A RN provides holistic care to nursing care throughout the nursing process to individuals, communities, families, and groups. These healthcare services include the assessment of healthcare needs, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and nursing evaluation. Nurses also provide counseling, patient education, health education, and patient advocacy.
