Legal, Safety, and Regulatory Requirements The human resources department processes effects the legal, safety, and regulatory guidelines within an organization when the rights of the employer and employee are covered by the U.S. Department of Labor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and/or the Department of Homeland Security. The purpose of these labor relations is to protect the rights of the employer and employee. The U. S. Department of Labor provides employers and employees with the best working environment possible, decreases employment rates by providing advancement within multiple of positions. Human resources management must be up-to-date with the guidelines for wages and hours worked safely as well as healthy, make sure all employees whether U. S. citizens or non-U. S. are aware of any beneficial information that may apply to them (United States Department of Labor, 2011). The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission protects all parties involved within an organization against discrimination concerning race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, or disability. Human resources management stays in compliance by making sure that shift managers are highly qualified in order to properly interact with colleagues when hiring, training, promoting, and firing. The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 assist human resources department by expressing the importance of knowing the requirements and the responsibility it brings to an organization. So basically it defines what disability is, who is considered disable, and what special equipment/environment a potential candidate of the vacant position would need. The Department of Homeland Security deals with all aspects of hiring U. S. citizens born abroad. Workers born abroad working illegally can have employers incarcerated or fined.
