Learning Team Reflection: Supply Chain and Demand Model ECO 372 Learning Team Reflection: Supply Chain and Demand Model Supply chain, supply and demand have the relationship together and work together. One simple way to describe the definition of supply chain is it is the steps it takes to get a good or services from provider to customer. It is important for companies to have a good supply chain system. “Supply-chain management provides a way to develop a competitive advantage without having to lower your prices. For instance, by developing a more efficient supply chain, you can deliver orders faster to customers. All else being equal, customers will choose the company that meets their needs fastest, giving you a competitive advantage in your industry” (Stan, 2014). Throughout this course, supply and demand is one of the most frequently terms we approach. For example, when the demand for cars goes up, companies will produce more to meet the demand, which increases the supply. The relationship between supply chain and supply and demand is supply chain will go up when supply and demand go up. In order to maximize profits, it is important to have effective supply chains deliver products as fast and cheap as possible to meet the demand. Take Amazon Company as an example. Amazon is well known for fast and free shipping. This is why many people choose Amazon to purchase their products. In this case, supply chain brings competitive advantage to this company. The demand for purchasing online products is here but why one company is more successful than another? Customer services and quality products play an important role to the successful of the company but we shouldn’t underestimate the importance of supply chain. I personally want to purchase products when it is fast and convenience. Supply chains encompass the end-to-end flow of information, products, and money.
