Serving FBLA for the past 2 years as an officer for FBLA has allowed to me to experience many things I will need in my future as a potential business leader. I have learned to be a leader and become more responsible, and timely with my tasks. I have reinforced my communication skills through the many events, where I have met new people and left my comfort zone. I have also gained confidence in myself. Last year, I did not choose to compete at state even though I had placed at section because I was lacking the confidence.
(NEA Today).” Seven hours is a lot of the day working all day and we never stop five days a week and we have homework which is bad for us, it makes us tired.” Decades ago, the American Educational Research Association released this statement: “Whenever homework crowds out social experience, outdoor recreation, and creative activities, and whenever it usurps time that should be devoted to sleep (Scholastic news).” Kids need to play outside and have a social life they need to enjoy their free time but there is no free time because of all the homework. Kids through 6-12th and college need less homework because we already have seven hours of
Since high school I’ve been doing poorly in math but, I’m not going to let it get the best of me and I will do what ever is necessary in order to pass and graduate in June. When I go home I don’t study and I don’t even bring my book bag in the house, most times I just go in my room and just sit there. On weekends I don’t study because most the time I’m always out with friends. I’ve
And while I had my toys and my friends around I still had to be responsible about doing my homework and wake up every morning and wear my clothes to go to school. I learned to do everything by myself and. Finally after one year my dad decided that we can go to see my mom. At the first time, I did not feel anything when I saw her because I could not remember her as a mom. This really hurt me as
When i started school i was acting up and never wanted to do any work or homework and my grandmother had to come to the school everyday. I never really cared about reading and writing because i wasn't really good at it, so i never really worked on reading and writing. My grandmother signed me up to a online program called Hooked on Phonics to help me read and write, but i never paid attention to it and skipped all the lesson because it was boring. When i was young i felt like i was on my own because my mother was away and my father was somewhere and my grandmother had all her grandchildren she took care of, so nobody took the time to teach me how to read and write. I felt like i didn't need to learn how to read and write because nobody told me or showed me how important reading and write and learn how to articulate.
To help me my learning process in class's like that i need to recreate the lectured material using my own visual tools and adapt my teacher's preferred teaching methods to my preferred learning styles. As a visual/physical learner, its is challenging for me when verbal or aural teaching techniques are used. I only consume bits of what i read or hear, i always have to look away from the speaker, think process all the words, and come up with what they represent visually. By learning that there are different learning styles and the style i predominately follow, I now know how to apply some simple techniques that will aid in my learning in my many class's that
Sometimes I try to switch it up to reading and watching, but I always seem to fail at that. So now I go hands on as often as possible and work with physical objects or any activity. A good example of learning through this style is in order for me to learn a new a new item or any new equipment that I have to learn, I pretty much play around with the item until I know that I am ok with it or I have full knowledge of how it works or how to work it. I might apply my own learning style to study through this course and the program. I think it will be better for me so that I won’t get confused by switching to a different learning style.
Because I did not have enough money to pay the tuition, I had to get a job in a call center after school. Working while studying was an additional challenge but it helped to teach me time management and it offered me an even stronger appreciation once I received my degree. Then, I had to have an advance English level so I could graduate. After long consideration I decided to come to USA in an internship program as an Au-pair. This gave me the opportunity to learn the language and get my diploma, but I was away from my country, my family and friends.
Being able to attend college online, communicating with my long distance relatives and taking care of all my finances online are just a few ways technology has simplified my life. Technology has definitely changed the way students learn, how teachers teach and whether or not either one has to step foot into a classroom. In my case, getting into a classroom became almost impossible. My boss commutes back and forth from New York City every day. Most days she would come home on time, but it always seemed that, on days, she knew I had to get to class; she would either miss her train or take a later train home.
I just arrived at America, everything was new for me. My daily routine comprised of going to school, coming home, resting for a while, waking up, hanging out with friends, coming back home, sleeping, and then repeating the same thing the next day. I didn't care about my homework or even classwork for that matter. In the meantime, the first semester I studied at ELAC, I got 4.0 GPA. Because it was so easy for me to get all A in first semester; gradually, I began wasting time.
