Running Head: Determining Your Position Introduction There are many types of leadership types that will be explored through out this paper. One that will be elaborated on is Autocratic leadership, the leadership styles that I posses and the position that I feel would best suit my leadership style. My Leadership Style Leadership There are many working definitions of leadership these are some to name a few. Leadership is “the behavior of an individual directing the activities of a group towards a common goal (money-zine.com). Leadership is “the influential increment over and above mechanical compliance with the routine directives of the organization.” Leadership “is the ability to step outside the culture to start evolutionary change processes that are more adaptive.” Leadership is “the ability of an individual to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organization Leadership Style In taking the My Leadership Style assessment test, I scored a 4 in my concern for people and a 13 on a concern for task. These scores mean that I have an Autocratic Leadership Style. Autocratic Leadership Style is when someone loves to get the job done, but at a high emotional cost. This also means that a leader would make decisions Leadership Position If the facility that I work at as a correctional officer was being transferred or upgraded and I was asked what leadership position I thought would best suit me I would say democratic. Although the My Leadership Style assessment test says I am autocratic which is selfish in my way of thinking when it comes to business and leadership. Not wanting to involve others in the final decision. However; I would rather be democratic one that involves all workers because whatever decision is made will affect all parties involved.
