Well before we speak of Chambers’s leadership at Cisco, it is vital we understand how his history and situation might have affected his leadership. John Chambers was born in West Virginia, on August 23, 1949 to his parents Jack and June Chambers (Wittman 2014). Jack Chambers was an obstetrician and gynecologist, and June Chambers was a practicing psychologist. As a young boy, Chambers suffered from dyslexia – a learning disorder that was stigmatize at the time (Wittman 2014). Chamber’s parent however were very learned people who recognized that with help their son would be able to overcome his disability.
