Q1: we have described power as the capacity to cause change and influence as the degree of actual change in a target’s behaviors. Ho Ching’s power as a leader has been recognized by many, but would you describe Ho Ching as an influential leader? And why? Answer) Leadership plays prominent roles in a group setting. It is through a vibrant leadership that a group tends to actualize its set objectives effectively. Thus, a leader is a purveyor of reward and punishment that tends to motivates the followers to put in their best in the actualization of the group’s targets and objectives. The leader is expected to direct the followers, make them focus on how to meet the goals and aspirations of the group. The degree and timeliness in which the group actualize its goals and objectives, goes a long way to depend on the effectiveness of the leader and how he coordinates the followers. Power obviously is a pervasive reality in the life process of all modern-day organizations. Leaders regularly acquire and use power to accomplish specific work goals and to strengthen their own positions vis-à-vis the reading of general or organizational goals. It is possible to see every interaction and every social relationship in an organization as involving an exercise of power. Thus, in the context of this paper, the word leadership will be used to mean “the process of using power to obtain interpersonal influence. Yet the reason of Ho Ching’s great power is his positional, referential and relational power but still she possesses the qualities of an influential leader. Few qualities that we can mention of Ho Ching being the influential leader as under: 1- Influential leaders are very good thinkers and analysts: Yet Ho Ching by her self have not proved that she is a very good analysts but she has hired very good people around her.
