Leadership Philosophy “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” - John C. Maxwell This is an excellent way to describe a leader. A leader is some one whom sets the example for his/her subordinates and peers alike. Of the Army Values I believe that two stand out the most. Duty and Respect. The Creed of a Non-Commissioned officer says “ Officers in my unit will have maximum time to accomplish their duties; they will not have to accomplish mine.” A leader must under stand that if his duties are not completed the mission will never be accomplished. Respect is another main key to being a leader. A leader must treat his/her subordinates and peers with respect to achieve the mission. As a leader you must guide your Soldiers. If a Soldier is having trouble with the task at hand, he/she must teach that Soldier how to accomplish the task. A leader needs to be able to realize when moral is low or the task at hand is too much. Leaders need to grasp the task at hand and show his/her Soldiers that it is not too much to accomplish. With a great leader every mission can be accomplished . As the creed of a Non-Commissioned Officer states “ I know my soldiers and will always place their needs before my own.” It is important that a leader knows his/her Soldiers and helps them in any way they possibly can. Leaders should help Soldiers progress in their career and guide them in the right direction to, one day, become a leader themselves. Leaders need to be available to their Soldiers at all times. As a leader you must always place a Soldiers needs before your own. Overall, I will strive to be a leader that my Soldiers can look up too. I will spend time to get to know and understand my Soldiers. I will make sure that my Soldiers know that I am available at all times. I have learned from current and past leaders and I will strive to
