Leadership “Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.” -Dwight D. Eisenhower (President & General of the U.S) I selected the quote above because I really believe it embodies a very important aspect of leadership. This aspect is being able to get others to help you because they want to not because they have to do it. I also chose this quote because I think Eisenhower knew the right way to lead, and I wanted to understand his reasoning and thinking behind his incredibly leadership. I think the quote means having the skill or aptitude to make others excited or willing to do what you want to be done because they believe in you. This desire to get a job done makes it more likely they will perform better because if they don’t want to do it then they probably won’t do it very good. Although Eisenhower held many different positions in the government, I think he may have used this quote to explain his great successes as a military general. People may have wondered how he was such a great military leader, and he used this quote to explain it. He got his soldiers to do what he wanted them to do because they wanted to do it not because he forced them to do it. Eisenhower mastered the art of rallying his troops and inspiring them to perform the best on the battlefield. His great leadership techniques may have won him many battles and possibly even a presidential election to become the 34th president of the United
