The 7 continents. What seems to be unique with these continents? According to Linguistic Society of America there are 2197 languages that are being spoken in Asia and about 200 Indo-European languages are present in Europe. On the other hand, it is estimated that there are between 2000 to 3000 languages spoken on the African continent. On the same way, the Native Languages Organization says that there are 800 surviving Amerind languages in North America while the Anthena Review says that there are 1000 individual languages that have been identified in South America. The Australian Government, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade stated that the continent spoke an estimated of 250 languages. Antartica has no permanent residents so languages depend on the travellers.
With the number of languages presented worldwide, isn't that surprising? These 7 continents continue to produce individuals with unique values. Values that are not just acquired through learning but instead, it's innate within them.
In any way which human beings used to communicate their thoughts and feelings, there is language. Literature is the body of written works of a language, period, or culture. Therefore, language is the tongue of literature. Without the essence of language how will we be able to understand the implication of literature in our life? If these two gets bonded together, the product will be the values that will infused in our beings.
Can you count in your fingers the number of values present in today's society? I bet you can't. These values are sometimes learned but sometimes it's already developed in us. But what is the relationship of language and literature in our values? From the very beginning of life there is already literature, proof? The Bible, in every page of the Bible, values are present and it becomes the language of the Bible that conveys a message to all of us.
