The more traditional forms of waste management, such as incineration, landfill and composting are heavily debated; which is the best method of waste disposal? With sustainability being such a large scale issue for modern society, it begs the question ‘How sustainable can waste management in an urban area be?’ In the UK, prior to the turn of the century, the majority of waste had been disposed of through landfill sites. These are large holes dug in the ground, in which waste is dumped in and then covered over by the dug up soil. Landfill sites are efficient and cheap, and a lots of waste can be disposed of with consummate ease. The sustainability of the method is also beneficial, as long term the area can be re-used and developed on.
There are several reasons why planners and developers focused on the Cramer Hill area for redevelopment. First of all, the area is near major transportation routes and centers, including the Ben Franklin Bridge, Interstate 95, Route 676, the Walter Rand Transportation Center, and the RiverLine. City planners know that residents and businesses want easy access in and out of an area for the greatest number of people. Secondly, Cramer Hill is a stable neighborhood with a lower percentage of crime and poverty than many other parts of the city. This is a desirable trait for redevelopment because it makes it more likely that efforts will be successful.
As Sydney became an emerging world city and it’s morphology changed, Pyrmont underwent urban renewal (both processes facilitated though the Better Cities Project), the new targeted residents of DINKS, SINKS, YUPPIES and high income professionals, who were attracted to the gentrified waterfront suburb with a desirable location needed suitable accommodation. Areas such as the Finger-Wharves and Jacksons Landing underwent urban consolidation, and became luxury apartments, and warehouses underwent adaptive reuse to become apartments. The SHFA is active in Pyrmont and its surrounding areas in management of public spaces, heritage conservation and entertainment. Services from uniforms to regular operations can be significantly less and just as successful as a public detention center. Other private partners such as nonprofit organizations, grants, and donations can fund operations or rehabilitation programs. Operation, maintenance, and management is another public-private partner. This partnership can contract lower operating costs; including cost per inmate per day. Eventually investors in the partnership will capitalize on the development of new prison

This increased openess allows countries to specialise in producing goods which they have a comparitve advantage in (this means they can produce goods at lower unit costs) A multinational Company is a corporation that has its facilities and other assets in at least one country other than its home country. There are many examples of MNC's such as Nike or Primark. MNC's play a massive part in the development of globalisation as they often invest heavily into the country they move into. They will build good quality factories to produce the goods and also introduce effective manufacturing methods. These manufacturing methods can be replicated by other businesses in the countries and improve their ability to manufacture goods.
For any supplier, a higher price is an incentive to supply more; therefore, as rental rates increased, the number of apartments GoodLife was willing to lease also increased. Typically, the reason for this shift could be either production or maintenance costs, which means that each additional unit of the product would be supplied at a higher price. As the rental rate increases, the number of apartments supplied increases is an example of an upward sloping supply curve. As for the shift in the demand curve, this was caused by the increase in population even though the supply of apartments was unaffected. At any given rental rate, an increase in population is automatically going to create more people demanding apartments for rent, thus causing the shift in the demand curve.
The impacts of Aboriginal Land Rights Act were overall very positive. Take the indigenous tribes who’ve settled at Kakadu as an example, after the indigenous there were given land rights, organisations had to get their permission to build the National Parks or to mine somewhere nearby. Granting of land rights allowed the indigenous to, firstly, gain economic independence, this means that they will not have to depend on others to make a living, but rather they can get a job at the National Park or at the mining site. Secondly, they could gain pride as they will have the ability to decide whether anyone could pass through their land or borrow their land for industrial purposes. Thirdly, their culture would be and appreciated by more people which causes less racial disharmony.
Now long shore, or planform, spreading involves the redistribution of the sediment from the project area to the adjacent beaches (Elko, par.4). The waves soon smooth the new sediment that has been brought in out and drives long shore transport. As a number of Florida beaches are being restored or going under a nourishment project the vision of a natural beach and beach influenced by nourishment is becoming more and more unclear (Elko, par.3). These projects are monitored by beach surveys that are done frequently. Sites are chosen to have cameras put on top of buildings located near the beaches so that an accurate survey could be done.
