After collecting amount of blood needed, hold a gauze pad over the puncture site for a short time to stop the bleeding. 13. Place the filled and sealed capillary tubes into the centrifuge. Cleaning and sterilising a baby’s bottle. Feeding equipment for babies up to one year old must be sterilised. Sterilisation removes the harmful bacteria that a baby’s developing immune system cannot yet deal with. A baby could develop anything from mild thrush to a more serious bout of vomiting and diarrhoea if the feeding equipment is not sterilised. Water temperature for sterilising is boiling (100 degrees Celsius) for steam sterilising or cold water is only used when items are immersed in a diluted disinfectant such as Milton.
During this procedure, a small, thin tube (catheter) is inserted into an artery in the upper thigh area and moved into the blocked artery in the brain. A wire mesh cage (stent retriever) will then be inserted into the catheter and moved to the clot. The stent retriever will be used to open the artery and remove the clot. These treatments must be done within 3–6 hours of the start of the stroke. It is important to get help right away as soon as you notice symptoms of
o Wound that have undergone in contact with animal’s tooth or feces. o Wounds in the patients suffering from systemic sepsis. WHO Recommendations: Wound management: Wound is cleaned with any antiseptic solution and all the debris is removed from the site of injury. Immunization: Person suspected for tetanus is given vaccination soon after the injury. According to WHO human TIG 500 units are given intravenously.
It binds with starch so the more starch, the darker the solution was. We also used a blank solution with no starch to set the spectrometer to zero. The spectrometer was used to compare the absorbency of the starch in the control solutions and the non-control solutions over time. Amylase was the last solution added to start the initial breakdown of the starch. Adding it at one minute intervals allowed the students to see how much starch the amylase was actually breaking down over time.
All patients were then transported to the x-ray room, and received conscious sedation with midazolam 0.1 mg/ kg and fentanyl 1 ug/kg. Standard ASA recommended monitors were used, including electrocardiograph, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry measurement. The doctor will then lift the flap and fold it back on its hinge, and dry the exposed tissue. During lasik eye surgery, the laser will be positioned over your eye and you will be asked to stare at a light. This is not the laser used to remove tissue from the cornea. This light during lasik eye surgery is to help you keep your eye fixed on one spot once the laser comes on. If you cannot stare at a fixed object for at least 60 seconds, you may not be a good candidate for this surgery.
After we made our incisions we used our probe to skin the pig and expose the muscles. 5. When the muscles were exposed we made a deep incision through the thoratic and abdominal cavities, then we cut around the umbilical and genital regions. 6. In order to expose the internal organs we had to break the ribs and cut through the connective tissues.
With a rod (spreader) that was dip in ethanol and then place under the busen burner in order to neutralize it; we spread the bacteria on every surface area of the petri dish. We wanted approximately 10 minutes for the bacteria to dry off, before applying the antibiotics. The three antibiotics were place in the center of the quadrants and a control was also place in the fourth quadrants carefully. Once this was done we close the petri dish and sealed it with parafilm for more protection for the environment of the bacteria. The two petri dish that contained E. coli and S. Marscensen were placed upside down and allowed the growth of the bacteria to interact with the antibiotics for a week.
The plastic clip restrictor allows only partial dose delivery and the needle length is restricted to half the length. The safety mechanism of the auto injector was unlocked by turning it fully clock-wise. The rats were held firmly on the surgical table with its back on the table. The autoinjector was positioned vertically and securely on the lower abdomen of the animal. The trigger button was pressed and held in position for 10 sec.
