Lady B. * * Ydal Jasmyia Stewart (born July 19, 1993), known by her stage name Lady B. (short for “Lady Backwards”), is a French African American singer, songwriter, and recording artist. Born and raised in Paris, France and also raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child. Her career began when she met, record producer, Evan Rogers through mutual friends in late 2003 and recorded demo tapes under Rogers’ guidance. Her demo tape was sent to several record labels and she immediately signed a contract with Def Jam Recordings. Lady B.’s debut and second studio albums, The Beginning (2005) and A Girl like Me (2006), peaked in the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart. * Her third studio album, What’s Inside of Me (2007) was a major breakthrough in her career that brought her to widespread prominence. Singles included the worldwide chart-topping lead single “Climbing” and “Read all About It”. The record was nominated for nine Grammy Awards, winning Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Read all About It” (with rapper Dizzy Wright) and is Lady B.’s best-selling album in the US to date. She later branched out to dance-pop and hip-hop, with the albums Coming Through (2009), Ill Mind (2010), Love Me like You Do (2011), and her first Billboard 200 number one album XIX (2012). Her albums include the global hit singles, “Baby Boy”, “Resentment”, “Come at me”, “Make You Happy”, and “Without Me”, as well as some of the best-selling singles of all time “Addicted to you”, “Keep your head up”, and “Beautiful People”.
