Purpose The Purpose of this lab is to observe and discover how different chemicals and substances react with each other and how their physical and chemical properties change. Procedure Before beginning the experiment, I reviewed the instructions and the goals of the experiment and re -reviewed the safety procedures when conducting lab experiments After I prepared myself with the requirements, I laid out each item that was needed to perform the experiment- test tubes, bunsen burner, 100-Ml Glass Beaker, Stirring Rod, test tube clamp holder, cleaning brushes, 24 well plate, 96/well plate, blue litmus paper, red litmus paper, Copper (II) Carbonate, Copper (II) Nitrate Crystals, Copper Metal, Magnesium, Magnesium Oxide Powder, Sodium Chloride, Mossy Zinc, Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Hydroxide. Then, I laid out protective papers on my counter, tied my hair back securely and placed my safety goggles on to protect my eyes and then placed my protective gloves on so there was no risk of spilling any chemical on my hands. I cleaned all the equipment with water and allowed it to fully dry before beginning the experiment. Each step for the experiment was repeated with each of the given substances. For each of the seven substances given- Mg, Cu, Zn, MgO, CuCO3, CU(NO3)2 and NaCl- four beakers were set up in order to observe reactions. First , I placed a portion of the substance in four clean and dry test tubes. Second, before observing any reactions, I took the first test tube (test tube “one”) and studied each substances in their their primary state and based on my observations recorded the color and the odor of each substance before any chemicals were added Third, after my observations of the substance in test tube “one” was observed, I lit the burner and I applied heat using the burner provided in the Labpaq kit. I observed how the
