Marina Garcia May 4, 2015 James Feltner III Precise Chemicals Introduction: Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to discover the unknown molarity of a base solution while using a known standard acid solution. Materials: 1) Funnel 6) Buret Stand 2) Erlenmeyer Flask 7) Dropper 3) NaOH 8) Distilled Water 4) 0.100M HCL 9) Burets 5) Phenolphthalein Procedure: 1) Steps 1-7 were done before we entered the lab 2) Record the starting volumes of the acid and the base 3) In buret A, release about 10 mL of acid into the Erlenmeyer flask & add 2-3 phenolphthalein to flask 4) Add base to buret A, quick then as you see the pink slow down the base drop by drop. Make sure the pink color stays 5) If too much base is added, add drops of solution to the flask until it turns colorless.
