The chain specializes in upscale grocery items from both domestic and imported sources. Kudler also fresh bakes pastries and other foodstuffs, and is well known around the region for its large cheese and specialty dairy selection. Customer service is Kudler Fine Foods number one priority. We first must consider that legal and ethical concerns are intertwined. What is considered an unethical act may in fact be completely legal (Turban, Rainer, & Potter, 2003). Kudler might want to consider three of the four basic concepts of capitalism - Freedom, Property Rights, and Responsibility as a litmus test of what might be considered ethicalor unethical. Freedom gives us the power to make our own choices, and property rights provide us the freedom to possess and regulate the use of both tangible and intangible items. Even if not required by law, Kudler’s reputation would be improved and upheld if such a disclosure was givento its customers. An example would be stating how the information would be used, who has access to it, and possibly promising not to sell it to a third party. The above paragraphs demonstrate how the frequent shoppers program could affect KudlerFoods, and their customers. However, in addition to the legal, ethical and security concerns, an additional financial burden must be discussedas well.
