Protocol and Performance Kudler Fine Foods is adding 3 additional stores that will need to have communications in place for point to multipoint connections between all four locations. It is important to prepare in detail when determining what devices and services will be needed to achieve a successful connection and facilitate a secure and stable backbone. In order to understand the process of the integrative network design project for Kudler Fine Foods, the objectives are as follows: identify the importance of communication protocols; define the overall network architecture; explain why traffic analysis is appropriate for network administrators; define latency, response time, and jitter, and describe their effect on overall network performance;…show more content…
Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is used for transfer of multimedia files, video, sound, and text over the internet. Kudler Fine Foods will implement File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to download files, transfer files, delete files, copy and rename files from the internet as needed. Point to Point Protocol (PPP) will be used to connect all devices such as printers, computers, and scanners on the network. These protocols are important because it allows transmitting and receiving devices to facilitate safe travels for data transferred on a network. Network Architecture The overall network architecture for Kudler Fine Foods will include a cable modem, eMTA, routers, switches, computers, fax servers, fax machines and printers at all locations to facilitate business needs. When implementing any Local Area Network (LAN), it is important to consider a traffic analysis that will assist network administrators in determining the different types of devices needed to facilitate different types of traffic that will traverse the network. Many organizations use VOIP to provide phone service using the transport of data service provided by a telecommunications provider. Third party voice service providers rely on specific parameters of jitter, latency, and response time on the network. More specifically jitter, the variation in delay between points, is critical to performance of voice services for third party voice service providers. Other factors considered are latency, the amount of time between transmission for a bit to be transmitted and received and response time, the time between input and output results of a request. The network administrator for Kudler Fine Foods will need to consider all of these factors when implementing the three new networks to interact between all
