First of all, Kobe Bryant holds the record for most three- pointers made with twelve in one game, on January 7th, 2003 vs. the Seattle SuperSonics. Hitting 12 threes is scoring 36 points from beyond the arc. For a shooting guard who isn’t known as a pure three point shooter like Ray Allen, or Rashard Lewis-- holding the record is an amazing accomplishment especially since Mr. Bryant had been 24 years old at the time. This record can only add on to Kobe’s legacy of being an assassin on the court when it comes to basketball. Meanwhile, on January 22nd, 2006

A day after passing Michael Jordan for the third spot on the all-time NBA scoring list, Kobe Bryant penned a brief essay for The Players’ Tribune on using his idol to drive him to greatness. There’s no love lost for the longtime Laker in these parts, but Bryant’s impact on the NBA is undeniable, and his essay ‘Zero’ offers a fascinating look into the mindset of an all-time great. Bryant opens the essay with a discussion of his age-12 season in Philadelphia’s Sonny Hill Future League in which he put up a donut for the summer. But after learning MJ was cut from his high school team, Bryant redoubled his efforts. “He used those emotions to fuel him, make him stronger, he didn’t quit,” Bryant writes.
Childhood memories were illustrated in stories by the brothers. They even participated in snagging a Nome they hated as children together and acted like pirates to have a good time. Dominoes was a game that was played in their kitchen to pass the time. Overall, the two brothers had a good time together after not seeing each other for 5 years and the play ended without telling the audience if Malcolm made his decision to stay or leave. The play gave the impression that family is important and should be the most valued in any situation.
Out of the two of us, he was the more athletic one and I would be the scholar so we complimented each other well. I would help him with school work and he would help me with basketball after school. What I admired most about him is that he is really independent because he’s pretty much been on his own his whole life. He is the youngest in his family of five, and his sisters and brothers are old enough to move out and living on their own. His parents own a restaurant so they work from five to six in the morning till twelve at night, so he had no choice but to learn and be independent on his own.
