Candide concludes that Martin is right, that life is all about illusion and disaster. At the end of this story, Candide does develop and mature some intelligence. He does realize his capacity to think things out and not accept Pangloss' Optimism beliefs. He also does not become a total cynic as is presented in the character Martin. Both were treated unfairly and weren’t liked by people. They both were used in some sort of experiment. Firstly, who ever you are and whatever you lack shouldn’t hold you back from having friends. Solitude vivifies; isolation kills. Through out life in this crazy mind ridden world, people find themselves isolated. Isolation rears its ugly head in various forms and can often be unexpected. Whether it be personal gain unachieved, or conflicts of love or hate, people deal with this sort of abandonment. Self created or felt from another persons doing, this separation of ones being must be dealt with.
The Study of George It was the writer Joss Wheldon who said, “Loneliness leads to nothing good, only detachment. And sometimes the people who most need to reach out are the people least capable of it.” This shows that those who are lonely are those who are scared to speak out about it. Loneliness affects us all. It frightens people so much they can’t say anything about it. This is like the Great Depression when people just carried on with their lives not caring for others just for themselves.
