King Fahd Medical City in Saudi Arabia Introduction King Fahd Medical City Hospital (KFMC) is made of four subsidiary hospitals with approximately 1095 hospitalization beds (Al-Yousuf, Akerele and Al-Mazrou 647). The four subsidiary hospitals include the rehabilitation center, the maternity hospital, the main hospital and the pediatric hospital. The hospitals are complemented with primary health care clinics that consist of Specialized Diabetes & Endocrine center, Prince Sultan Hematology & Oncology Center, Prince Salman Heart Center, and Neuroscience center among other centers. It is a public hospital constructed at a budget of SR23 billion. For many years the hospital has operated in accordance with its objectives that constitute improving the citizens’ medical care, improving the medical care standards, treating various diseases, training the staff on quality service deliver and conducting medical research (Kamil, Perveen, and Al-Tannir 74). All these objectives define the culture and heritage of KFMC. However, despite the adherence and commitment to the objectives, several research reports recently revealed that the hospital still faces various problems that contribute to sub-standard health care service delivery in KFMC. Some of the problems are linked to the lack of proper training by the hospital’s medical practitioners in the recent technological advances and innovation (Al-Sobhi, Weerakkody and Kamal 15). In this regard, lack of technological training inhibits the implementation of medical technology such as information systems in hospitals. Consequently, it leads to slow and poor service delivery which directly or indirectly limits the achievement of high standard healthcare quality level in KFMC.
