Kinds of Learning Styles Learning is a process of transferring knowledge from the environment, such as books, teachers, parents, etc. The transferring process involves the five senses. Three of five senses are more used in learning process. They are eyes, ears, and sense of touch. Your eyes, ears, and sense of touch play essential roles in the way you communicate, perceive reality, and relate to others. Actually, students use those three senses to learn but one of them is more dominant. It shows how they learn. The learning types are broken down into three types. They are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles; each learning style has characteristics. First of all, we start from visual learning style. Visual learning style is the way of learning by seeing something. Visual learners like to read and have good handwriting so they will make outlines or lists and read it more and more to remember something. Besides that, they can memorize by seeing graphics and pictures, especially full-colored graphics and pictures. Also, visual learners need quiet study time. They will get difficulty when they must study in group and lose their concentration while seeing not attractive view. Moreover, they get difficulty in verbal instruction. However, they are good at spelling, good with sign language, meticulous, and neat in appearance. Furthermore, the reverse of visual learning style is auditory learning style. Auditory learning style is the way of learning by hearing something. Auditory learners really like music. They can study by hearing music and cannot keep quiet for long periods. They like oral reports and whisper to themselves while reading. Therefore, auditory learners are good at explaining, at grammar and foreign language, and in study groups but they have more difficulty with written directions and read slowly.
